what is Project Siting?

We identify strong greenfield site options across a broad range of industries in the Nordics and Europe, either shortlisting viable locations from scratch or evaluating a shortlist a client has already drawn up. Combining our in-house grid modelling with our power price forecasts, we give clients a clear view of where to focus their site investigation and why. The service is built for data centres, new green industry projects and renewables developers weighing up which geographical sites are worth pursuing for their project, and on what basis. Grid capacity, future expansion potential and power price forecasts are assessed together, so a siting decision rests on how a location is actually likely to perform, not just where land or connection is currently available.

We cover both the grid modelling and power market modelling. Grid modelling provides us with an understanding of where capacity is available, and power market modelling of what the power prices will be.

With HQ in Sweden and presence in Finland, we are able to support our client with stakeholder management and communications in relation to siting topics – for example in DSO/TSO discussions.

Policy knowledge

In our siting analysis, we always consider relevant policy changes that can affect the siting choices. We monitor EU and Nordic grid and power market policy and regulatory changes closely, to reduce risk for our Clients sites.
